How to prepare for hot yoga
Hot yoga offers a unique blend of physical challenge and mental clarity. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, consider the following tips:
💧 1. Hydrate Well in Advance
Begin hydrating at least 24 hours before your class. Aim to drink 2–3 liters of water daily leading up to your session. On the day of class, consume an additional 500–600 ml about two hours prior. After class, replenish fluids with water or electrolyte-rich beverages to aid recovery and prevent fatigue or headaches.
🍌 2. Eat Light Before Class
Avoid heavy meals 2–3 hours before class to prevent discomfort. If you need a snack, opt for easily digestible options like a banana or a small protein bar. This helps maintain energy levels without causing nausea.
👕 3. Dress Appropriately
Wear lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing that allows for breathability and flexibility. Avoid heavy materials that can make you feel weighed down or overheated. Many yogis prefer form-fitting clothes to prevent excess fabric from getting in the way of their movements during poses.
🧘♀️ 4. Bring Essential Gear
Ensure you come prepared with the right gear. A high-quality yoga mat that provides a good grip should be at the top of your list. Additionally, bring a large towel to cover your mat and a smaller one to wipe away sweat. A refillable water bottle is also essential to stay hydrated throughout the session.
⏰ 5. Arrive Early
Arriving 10–15 minutes early allows you to settle into the heated environment, find your spot, and chat with the instructor. They can provide beginner-friendly guidance and help ease any nerves before your first session Aaptiv.
🧘♂️ 6. Take It Easy
Use your first few classes to acclimate to the heat and familiarize yourself with the movements and breathing. Within 5–10 classes, you’ll feel more comfortable. Be patient with yourself and enjoy your journey
